Spring has Sprung
Well I am glad this winter is finally over. As much as I loved all the wonderful snow days the sun is a very welcome sight. So far this year our kids have been keeping us on our toes, whether it is sports, trips to the ER, or just doctor appts. Tyler started us out by jumping off a swing and landing on a trailer hitch. Ouch is the least of the words he was thinking. He spent 3 weeks with a catheter in and grew very stir crazy. He is now on the mend and has gone right back into things. He has been running track this year doing the 3200, long jump, and 4 x 200. He really like the shorter events better, but he does pretty good at the 3200. He is also playing soccer and loving it as usual. His last game was against a U-18 team, under 18, and their team is U-14. They lost 3-2, but Tyler was pretty positive he said, " I think we did pretty darn good for playing a team that drove themselves away from the game." Kirt is playing baseball. His team is undefeated right now and so they are #1 in the league. Kelsie will be starting swimming at the end of the month and is still getting straight A's. Audrey is always making us laugh and we just found out that she will be getting her tonsils out in a month. So sad to think that my 3 year old will be going under the knife, but am happy to think that she should be sleeping better soon.

Catching up on Things
Ok so I have been so bad at keeping up with how the family is doing. We are all doing good here, just in case any one was wondering. Tyler is playing basketball for one of the four 6th grade teams. He has gotten to start the last two games. He is pretty excited about that. Audrey finally got potty trained right before Christmas. I am super excited about this, things are so much nicer now. Tyler and I ran a half marathon in mid January. I improved my time by one minute, I was hoping for better, but that was good enough. Tyler took first in his age group and I am super proud of him because I kind of forced him to run with me. He ran cross country this fall so I know that he was in good enough shape. He actually beat me by a minute. Real big surprise there, everyone in my family beats me.. Kelsie has gotten straight A's the past 2 report cards. She was also a runner up for Math field day. Which means she got the 3rd highest math grade in the 4th grade, there are about 80 4th graders at her school. We are really proud.

Having a Good Summer
So I am terrible at keeping my blog up to date. We have been busy this summer with a wide variety of things. Kids have had ear infections, allergic reactions to be stings, and walking pneumonia. Needless to say we have spent a lot of time at the doctors office. Our last trip got us taken in a back entrance with lovely masks over our faces for fear that we had swine flu. It was pretty interesting trying to keep a mask on a 6 year who is dead set against having it on.
We have also gone bike riding several times with Grandpa Hunter. Grandpa also took us to Pittsburgh to watch Aunt Suey in a curling match and to Olive Garden afterwords for dinner. We have also gone swimming a lot in Pappy and Grandma Drennen's pool. It is so very nice to have fami
ly with a swimming pool. With the lovely cool weather we have also been making lots of trips to the library as it is not warm enough to swim. We are having fun needless to say.

So much to tell
Well it seems that it has been awhile since I have posted anything. So much has happened in the past month. We had spring break from school and we took advantage and went to Maryland to visit family. My grandmother has been ill and I wanted to go see her in the hospital. It is a good thing I did, she passed away a week later. So the following week we were back in Maryland for a funeral. Most of the Hunter clan was there. We decided that we needed to take a family picture since so many of us were there. With all the little ones it was hard to get everyone to look though. There are 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. There are a lot of us. It was fun spending time with family and meeting my Dad's cousins. We had a meal at the beach afterwards, because that was my grandmothers favorite place to be. Mine too!!

The Results
I am a little behind on posting the results of the surgery. I just realized that I have known for a couple weeks, but have forgotten to post anything. The actual nodule that was removed was benign, but they found a 3 mm mass inside of it that was cancerous. For those of you who are into medical jargon it was a papillary carcinoma. It was so small that I should not need Chemo or radiation. They may put me on a thyroid medication to keep my TSH levels low to normal. By doing that it would also inhibit any growth of cancer if there may be any on the other side. So all is well. It was all a little overwhelming to hear at first, but I know that it is great news. The Lord has been watching out for me. Thanks for all the prayers in my behalf.

Well many of you know that last week I had surgery. To those who did not I had surgery last week. They found a nodule on my thyroid that can be cancerous or can turn into cancer if it is not now. So on Thursday they went in and removed the left side of my thyroid and the connector thing in the middle. I am doing good, tired and my neck is a little stiff. I did give the nurse a bit of a scare. I passed out the first time when I got up. She started asking me if I had had a seizure before. I told her no that I had seen plenty of them before and knew what they were like and that I did not have one. She still called the Doc who sent me for a CT scan and had some blood work done. I am doing fine and am at home now. I go in on Friday for a recheck on the cut and hopefully the result of the lad work. I will keep everyone posted on what the results are.

Christmas Times
Well I guess it was bound to happen, everyone around me was sick. I thought I was doing so good, but I got the lovely head cold thing that everyone has had. We had a good Christmas spending time with family and extended family. We got to go Maryland this past weekend to see my mom's side of the family. We had lots of fun doing a yankee gift exchange, visiting, and eating yummy food. I also had the oppurtunity a few weeks before Christmas to go to my cousin's graduation from Salisbury University. My Dad, Audrey and I went down to Salisbury together and then to Ocean City to my Aunt's condo. I have never been to Ocean City in the winter before. It is alot quiter there now.
This was Audrey's first Christmas were she actually knew what was going on. I think she was in state of shock for the first half an hour. Kirt was loving every minute of it as well as Tyler. He, Tyler, didn't even mind that Mom and Dad thought that underwear and socks were good Christmas presents. Kelsie loved her Mp3 player so much that it is hard to find her without it attached to her ear. It was a good ending to a good year.
